Tour Guide Tuesday: Bluebird Cafe

Featuring...

The Bluebird Cafe is a premier listening room in Nashville's high end Green Hills neighborhood.  Featuring songwriters from across the US, this nightly show is a hot ticket in town.  With typically two shows a night, the earlier show introduces new songwriters to Nashville, and the later show showcases well known and highly acclaimed songwriters preforming and sharing stories of their road to success in music city.  Open mic night is hosted weekly on Sundays.

There are two floor plans used in the Bluebird cafe, the standard being with the stage in the front of the small 100 person capacity cafe and the second being in the round.  When songwriters play in the round, they preform in the middle of the room with the tables positioned around the band.

The cafe has been around for 30 years and has been accredited with helping launch  the careers of several country music staples.  Garth Brooks, Dierks Bentlely and Kenny Chesney played on our Open Mic and Sunday Songwriters Shows before they were discovered, as did Taylor Swift. Although the is would be a quiet night in the city, I highly recommend it to any visitors or locals who are looking to experience true talent.

Tips for your visit to the Bluebird
1. These shows book up quickly! Reservations are only made available 7 days before the show.  You must plan in advance for this visit.  Book your reservations online at bluebirdcafe.com (click the reserve a seat button on the right)
2.  This venue is considered a "listening room:" the staff insists that the room remain quiet during performances.  Be polite and oblige.
3. The bathrooms are less than inviting and it is difficult to manuever through the room without disrupting the ambience, so try not to use them :)
