Five for Friday!

1.  Every time JK goes out of town, I take advantage and do a "project".  Whether it be rearranging furniture, painting something, or trying out a Pinterest craft, I always get that itch.  Well last weekend was no different, I found left over paint, the color of the front door, and went to town on the Adirondack chairs on the front porch.  I can't wait to add a swing as a final touch!

2.  I'm super pumped for the upcoming holiday next week!  One of my Nashville girlfriends is planning a fun boating day on Percy Priest Lake, and I can't wait to catch some rays in the middle of the week.

3. Last weekend we got to celebrate my mom's birthday!  Complete with hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill and a family cornhole tourney, it was a success.  I love spending time with my fam :)

4.  One of my most googled posts is my Nashville 4th of July suggestions for 2012.  I am planning on updating that post next week, so if you are looking for a list of Independence Day options in Music City, stop back by early next week.

5.  Have a great weekend :)

Tour Guide Tuesday: East Nashville Favorites Part 1

Favorite Ice Cream: Jeni's

This eastside staple is a homemade, nothin but the good stuff, ice cream maker.  Located right off Eastland Ave., the varying flavors from Salty Caramel to Riesling Poached Pear Sorbet are sure to wake up your taste buds!

Favorite Brunch: Marche

Looking for European style right off Main Street?  This café is the hot spot for weekend brunch.  They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner daily and feature homemade pastries, a espresso bar, and fresh meats, fish and cheeses.  This restaurant maybe right off of the 5-points area, but inside you will feel like you are at a bustling café in France or Italy.

Favorite Festival: Tomato Arts Festival

Ya'll, this festival is a family friendly blast!  It kicks off with a 5k and hosts an array or tomato-centered events.  The festival's tagline is "The Tomato, a uniter, not a divider".

Bloody Mary Bar? check!
Famous Nashville Food Trucks featuring tomato menus? check!
Bobbing for tomatoes? check!
Cornhole tourney? check!
Dog fashion event? check!

This year's event will be August 10th, 2013

Favorite Wine Bar and Patio: Rumors

Rumors is known for the ambiance.  Looking for a bohemian style wine bar, Rumors is it.  They also have a limited menu, but with a wine menu like they have, who wants to eat?!?  Located in the heart of East Nashville in 5 Points, this delightful patio will have you at hello. They offer reservations available through Open Table if you want to avoid the wait.

I have a lot more of my East Nashville favorites in store next week, so stay tuned.

5 for Friday!

Hey Ya'll!  Linking up with the girls again for 5 for Friday.

I absolutely love this link up because it enables my randomness :)

1.  Check out the newest addition to the front porch.  Last weekend ,for Father's day, JK and I  took our dads to tour Jack Daniel's Distillery.  While we were there, we picked up two half whiskey barrel planters.  I'm already envisioning mums in the fall and poinsettias for Christmas!

2.  I know I already posted about it this week, in my only other post this week, but I'm so excited for the Taste of Music City Fest tomorrow.  I love summertime festivals and I love all of our local eateries, so I know it will be a blast!

3.  I'm on the search for new bedding for my king size bed to fix a few issues....
     a.  My current duvet insert from Macy's isn't fluffy enough
     b.  The size of my current duvet isn't long enough cover the mattress
     c.  I want the bedding to match the current wall color

So, do I go with a California King size duvet?  Do I get a quilt to cover the bed and lay the duvet at the bottom?  Why can't my bed look like the ones in the Pottery Barn catalog?!?

Any king size solutions?

4.  Do you use a make-up primer?  I'm currently trying my first one and I'm not sure it's doing much.  Thoughts?

5.  I never shared these adorable coozies I created to celebrate The Kinsland Firm's first anniversary.  I created the artwork and had a local print shop whip up a few for our celebration.  Don't you love them?

Happy Weekend!

5 for Friday!

1.  This was a week of joyful news in my inner circle of friends :)  One of my dearest friends, Sarah, got engaged to her love, Michael (she conveniently caught the bouquet at the last wedding)!  Another girlfriend announced a bun in the oven!  Congrats to you both!!!

2.  I'm looking forward to a great relaxing weekend celebrating all things DAD.  JK and I are spending Saturday with his fam, taking a road trip to Jack Daniels Distillery, and Sunday, my sweet parents are coming to Nashville.  I can't wait to get some good quality time in with our favorite people.

on a side note, this is a really funny list, 28 reasons to appreciate your dad....check it out for a little laugh.

They don't understand Twitter, and it can make you question your own life choices.

3.  H&M is officially open at Opry Mills.  You know I couldn't resist the urge to pay tribute to the new store.  I scored a few work appropriate dresses and a couple fun belts this week.  Hey Memphis girls, time for a road trip!

4.  The house is slowly coming together, this week we added curtains and this weekend I hope to add a couple planters to the front porch for a pop of color.  Very exciting stuff....stay tuned for pics soon.

5.  I have a confession.  I wrongly judged East Nashville before planting my roots here a month ago.  I don't know why it has such a sigma attached to it....most of the people who judge it have spent little to no time on the east side.  It is simply charming.  From the neighborhood restaurants, to the welcoming neighbors, I am loving it.  East Nasty, I'm sorry for any pre-judgements I made before calling you home.

Tour Guide Tuesday: Cheekwood Lights

featuring...

This exhibit is on the top of my summer bucket list!
According to the website:

Cheekwood is thrilled to host the second-ever North American exhibition of LIGHT, a stunning outdoor art installation by acclaimed British artist Bruce Munro. Using an inventive array of materials and hundreds of miles of glowing optic fiber, Munro will transform Cheekwood’s beautiful gardens into an enchanting, dream-like landscape. This site-specific exhibition follows a wildly popular U.S. debut at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, and has been uniquely designed by the artist to incorporate Cheekwood's gentle hills, expansive views and magnificent gardens. Cheekwood will offer extended hours on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings until 11:00 p.m. to present this grand-scale exhibition, in its most stunning state: under the night sky.

Let's Catch Up

Back to the real world today.  Here are a few things going on in my world...

Wednesday JK and I headed to Destin for a little mini-vaca.  Perfect for relaxing, this trip was just what the doctor ordered after our crazy work schedules the past few weeks.

Most of the weekend the beach looked like this....

But for a couple hours Thursday, a storm rolled in and it looked like this...

I was glad it didn't stay too long :)

About a month ago, we celebrated the firm's first birthday!  Complete with custom cozies and a surprise family dinner at Maggiano's, it was a success, just like the firm  Congrats babe!

I'm hosting our first bunko night with a group of girls from my Junior League provisional class this week.  I feel like I should be a little more nervous, since I haven't prepared much, but I know we will have fun whether the chicken is burnt or perfect.

Here is a little inspiration to get your day off on the right foot.

Happy Monday!
